Ever spent time on the website, KissThisGuy.com? It’s a hilarious catalog of misheard lyrics compared to the actual words. The title comes from a misheard Jimi Hendix lyric, “Scuse me while I kiss the sky”
Like so much on the internet, this site is a fabulous time waster, especially when you need a good laugh.
I was reminded of it this week by my kiddo’s singing the lyrics to the song from the Pixar short, Lava, a musical story of two volcanoes in love. The lyrics in the final chorus have the volcanoes pledging their love (I mean, their lav-a) and wishing to grow old together. “You’ll grow old with me, and I’ll grow old with you.”
My can’t-be-wrong 7-year-old insists those aren’t the words. He sings it – and sings, and sings over and over, in his atonal, still a little boy voice – this way,
“I have a dream, I hope will come true,
That you’ll go home with me, and I’ll go home with you.”
When you’ve only recently reached the milestone of taking the bus to a friend’s house or staying at a birthday party without Mama, going home with someone may seem the greatest sign of affection.
