My kiddo spent the week at Emily Dickinson writing camp. His enthusiasm inspires me to share some lines she inspired me to write.
Ode to my Lawn
What pleases the grass –
Volumes of violets
intertwining with ground ivy.
Ignoring bounds between lawn and bed,
sending runners among roses.
Lions heads which escape
the mower’s guillotine.
The tunes of blue,
the smells of sweet,
becoming tumbleweed.
Tickling toes of those content
to watch it grow.
Inspired by Emily Dickinson’s F1350 “The mushroom is the Elf of plants”
