A friend and colleague created the One Piece of Trash campaign this spring with the following invitation:
“Want an easy way to make your world a better place? Pick up one piece of trash.
“Every time you take a walk, a run, a hop, a skip or a jump through your neighborhood or down a new street in a new town, village, beach or city you are invited to pick up one piece of trash and either throw it out or recycle it. Every week I will send out a reminder invitation to pick up one piece of trash. But there’s more … The invitation is to take it one step further and enjoy the process! Every time you do this you will be making your world a better place. You might even want to draw a smily face on your piece of trash, take a picture of it and post it here! Someone else’s litter is your opportunity to participate in your world in a positive way! Thank you litter bugs!”
Enjoy the process. Words to live by.

If you enjoy this practice, look up Litterati. They are picking up trash and encourage others using photography and Instagram.
Thanks for the tip, Jen! I’m a sucker for punny names.
